Halloween Spooktacular

Halloween Spooktacular Saturday 27th October - Monday 5th November, daily from 9.30 a.m., some evenings open late into the dark!

Attractions

Visit our award winning, mega fun, best week of the year Spooktacular! Each year we get bigger and better. This year one new activity and one newish.

The success of our story-telling over the summer has inspired us to try interactive Spooky Story-telling during the day time. This will be aimed at the little ones so not too scary. Newish this year is the Monster Water Blast read the interview with Captain BZ below). Normally a walk in the park is the walk in the Maize Maze. But just in case we have not cleared out all the Monsters, each Squad will be equipped with state of the art Poison Blasters to paralyse or ward off any unwelcome Monsters. The Tractor Ride through the Spooky Woods has undergone a major overhaul - but remains great spooky family fun. Ride the Ghost Train – it may be your last journey. If you survive the rides and feel really brave saunter into the Orridly Aunted Attic. After this a more tranquil pace as you carve your pumpkin in the Deadly Dungeon. Ghoulish enough during daylight hours but the scare factor increases by night. We are open from 9:30am each day and stay open late on Tuesday 30th, Thursday 1st, Friday 2nd, and Saturday 3rd November. There is a short firework finale on these late nights usually taking place around 6:30-7.30 p.m, but weather dependent.

Plenty of fun to be had by all with a scare rating attached as some attractions may not be suitable for the littlies in your party

Also new this year is your chance to pre-book tickets which will save you time when you arrive as well as 10% off tickets bought on the day. Advanced tickets will be available until October 21st and can be used for any single Halloween day. Just phone 01234 771597, ask for the Advanced Ticket and we will send you entry bands. These tickets allow entry on any one day of the Halloween season but which particular day need not be specified prior to purchase.

Reviews

Hi everyone just wanted to say what a wonderful day myself and my Grandchildren spent with you on 30 Oct. My grandchildren range in age from2 to 8 and there was plenty to keep them occupied all day. All of the staff gave 110% especially the scary tractor ride(which had to be repeated twice by the 7 year old) the day ended with a wonderful firework display, all I can say is a great day out and fantastic value for money. A very happy granny......
Hi last Thursday my family visited Thurleigh Farm to brave the scary tractor ride for the second year running. Not a local visit for us as we live in Lincoln, but well worth the drive for a great day out. My 8 year old put on a brave face¸but my youngest age 3 lost his voice shouting go away monsters at the top of his voice as they attacked our tractor What completely irresponsible parents we are sending our offspring into the scary woods with only fingers for laserblasters!!!
Despite the freezing cold October weather, we had a lovely day out and my eldest especially enjoyed the mini quads and the bungee trampolines. The ghost train was so brilliant, we were forced to dismount after only a one way ticket !!!!!......
Just wanted to drop you a quick email to say how great it was at Thurleigh Farm when we visited on Thursday 30th October. Even though it was absolutely freezing everyone had a great time - Mums and kids alike. I think at the end there was about 30 or so people left but you still did the fireworks - thank you - and our children loved feeding the remains of the pumpkins to the pigs!

Most of all, a great big thank you to the man that was in charge of the scary tractor ride! He was really good and even if was the 20th time he had done it he was still so enthusiastic that it sounded like the original! Us mums won't forget the 'dropping body' for some time to come and the kids loved the ride too! A first class experience and excellent value for money!

New Spooky Story-Telling

Similar to our Summer Story Telling we will run an interactive Spooky Story telling session during the day time. This will involve taking a tractor ride to the woods, walking through the story part of the woods (the rest is out of bounds during Halloween) whilst listening to the Spooky Story before returning by tractor.  Given how scary much of our programme is during Halloween, especially for the littlies, the intention is to keep the scare factor very low (enough were scared by meeting the Gruffalo, Wolf, Bear, etc. furing the summer!

New(ish)! Monster Water Blast

We employ an elite team of Monster hunters led by Captain BZ. Their job is to ensure the safety of our visitors to the Maize Maze. Despite being a busy man, I managed to catch up with Captain BZ for a short interview. Captain BZ "My team do a damn good job under difficult and dangerous conditions. I am proud to say that your visit to the Maize Maze is going to be a walk in the park. But with your safety our priority, we, no I, will never take chances with the life of those who put their trust in me and my unit to keep them safe. So we arm each and everyone in the squad so that should, however unlikely it may seem, but should a rogue Monster ambush our trip you will be well equipped to repel any attack. It may seem like overkill, but we will issue you with a state of the art, highly potent poison firing blaster. If a Monster is dumb enough to try and attack.... well let's just say that it would be payback time for the kids." I then asked the Captain about collateral damage. Captain BZ "All part of the equation, son." But were last year's losses simply too high I enquired. Captain BZ "You civilians have no idea. So we lose a few kids here, we lose a few kids there, so what. There are a billion of kids in the world for crying out loud. This interview is over. Period." For the record, Captain BZ's primary orders (since his demotion form General) are to lead the squad safely through the Maize Maze and return the squad to the Antidote Base Camp.

The route has been cleared of land mines and Monsters but the foe are ingenious and quickly able  to regroup and send reinforcements. Do our Elite Troops expect the unexpected? Can they defend the indefensible? Can they win the unwinnable? Can they repel the irrepressable Monster Attacks? Are they sharp shooters? Will they need to be rushed back to Antidote Base Camp? Or are some of them simply Food Fodder?

Children must be 4 and over for this attraction and to use the equipment involved. The aim is not to be too scary and allowing kids a fighting chance hopefully keeps the scare level down

Scary Tractor Ride: Bigger and even Better!

The highlight for most of our visitors as the comments above indicate. The aim is to have spooky fun and there may be a bit too much spook for some of the very little ones, but hoperfully the fun bit shows through as well. Each year as we add and adapt 'happenings' it seems inevitable that the ride has got spookier. We try to combat this by having a less scary side to the tractor (the right as you get on) but even without this advice being ignored, the little ones especially those 5 and under may find it just too much and ecven the older ones may be in for a fright.

You know you will be attacked by Monsters and that the chance of your head really being choppped off is low (think what it would do to our insurance!) but you also know that knowing does not matter, you will still jump, scream, squirm or all three and that's just the dads! We've stepped up the action again this year, revamped a large portion of the ride whilst retaining some of the old favourites.

The scary side of the tractor always get filled up first. Whether it's simply relief, the release of the jangling nerves or the banter, but the Scary Tractor Ride always ends with a group of giggling parents and sometimes a few traumetised children! It's great interactive entertainment and not to be missed - just read the reviews above. The scare factor rises with the moon!

Orridly Aunted Attic

High on the Fright Factor. It says what the label on the tin says. It is upstairs. It is absolutely horrid. It is occupied by ghosts and other less welcoming things. In fact it is so scary kids MUST be accompanied by and remain accompanied by adults and we suggest the under 6s sit this one out.

This has been a big hit since we first introduced the attraction 3 years ago. It seems strange to say that sometimes kids find this easier to get through since they tend to see things 'literally' for what they are (bits of plastic mainly) whereas adults allow their imaginations run wild. In one case this led to a frantic mum running out of the attic too scared to complete the journey whilst the kids happily finished off the tour with brave aunty.

The Ghost Train

The Ghost Train Ride looks simple enough. A short bit of track going through a short bit of tunnel. Can't last long. Can't be too bad. Or can it? I am afraid to say that too many of our visitors waste their money on a return ticket when they make just a single journey. Many are not able to take the retreat back through the tunnel either through loss of nerve, or simply through loss of life taken from us by the Monsters. The Ghost Train is scarier than the Scary Tractor Ride and a little more intense because of the confines of the tunnel. But on demand we can turn down the scare factor for our youngest guests or even invite them to the ‘Other Side’ and let them be Little Monsters and help scare our train passengers (we find that most children need very little training to become Little Monsters).
