Health and Safety

We want your visit to the farm to be a safe one. There are lots of things we try to do to make sure this happens, but there are also some things that you can do to help. We want the children to have fun and part of the experience of visiting places like ours and to have adventure is to expose children to risks such as riding on quad bikes or ponies or playing on trampolines. Our job and yours is to manage those risks to an acceptable level. Your role is very important in this. The most important thing you can do is to properly supervise your children. This is your responsibility so please keep a watchful eye.

One of the biggest single risk comes from not following simple hygene rules. Please ensure children wash hands, especially before eating. If necessary wash hands frequently and this is particularly important for children who have a tendency to put their hands near their mouths nose or ears or who tend to snack through the day. Please wash hands after taking off wellie boots. Please do not put footwear on any surfaces such as picnic tables or seats. Your child or someone else’s is likely to put a biscuit or sandwich on a bare table or seat. Please do not allow your children to take food or drinks into the indoor play equipment or sand pits.

If you would like to download a HSE pdf giving advice to teachers visiting farms please do so, the advice is good for all.
