School Visits

At Thurleigh Farm & Adventure Playground we aim to provide a venue for children and parents to play or learn together. We remain a working and open farm but have added facilities that allow children and parents to do activities together in play, animal feeding or visiting Wacky Woods or the Maize Maze (in season).

We are members of the National Association of Farms for Schools to help make sure the children get the most out of their visit.

All visits will be structured according to the type of visit. The children will be accompanied by a trained member of Thurleigh Farm staff who will provide them with an informative talk and opportunity to participate and learn through experience. The children may also be given activity sheets to fill in during their visit and colouring to take away with them, depending on their age.

We cater for school, nursery and group visits throughout the year. For all school visits each group receives one free adult per four children.

Cost: £5.25 per child, £4.25per adult weekdays term time. £6.50 per child, £5.50per adult weekends and school holidays.

  • On arrival the children are given squash and biscuits while we give a brief introduction to what they can expect from the day.
  • Visit the small animals and cuddle a rabbit, help bottle feed lambs in season (March, April & early May) and see ducklings and chicks and baby rabbits (hand washing with anti-bacterial soap takes place directly afterwards).
  • Help feed the large animals such as ponies, llamas, sheep, pigs, goats, ducks and geese all under the supervision of one of our staff.
  • Explore Wacky Woods and a tractor ride back.
  • Groups are welcome to stay the whole day and bring picnics, (inside and outside picnic facilities are available for large groups) and our staff will help with the educational part of the visit (two hours approx.)
  • The children are welcome to use our extensive indoor and outdoor play facilities for as long as they wish or are allowed.
